With our soggy national reputation, it may come as a surprise to learn that Portland has some of the most moderate, pleasant summer weather anywhere. With summer daytime high temperatures averaging in the mid 80s; outdoor festivals and events are held in perfect conditions:
The Rose City is one of Portland's numerous nicknames.(See also: Stumptown, Bridgetown, PDX, Beervana, Little Beruit and Ptown). The Oregon Brewers Festival is held on the last full weekend in July, attracts more than 80,000 people; quaffing 80 different brews, exotics watermelon wheat to chili pepper ale.
Pickathon With its unique rural setting, this family friendly music festival is held on the first weekend in August on Pendarvis Farm.
Farmer's Markets are held at multiple locations in the summer months. In SW Portland, Portland State University's Park Blocks is the premiere spot to gather fresh produce while getting to know the folks who produced it.
