Mid-century modern homes inspire a cult-like following among their devotees. With simple, understated designs, open floor-plans and an inspiring sense of style, it's easy to see why. Robert Rummer was influenced by builder Joe Eichler's work in Walnut Creek California. Rummer homes are Characterized by indoor atriums, galley kitchens, Douglas fir tongue-and-groove ceilings, "flying coffin" cabinets and gable-roofs. Between 1959 and 1975 750 "Rummer" homes were built in Newberg, Portland, Clackamas, Lake Oswego, Oak Hill, Beaverton and Gladstone. When these coveted homes are put up for sale, they don't last long.
